Being a part of HPS is a gift. In this environment, we as educators, are able to guide and support environments for each child to learn. Having multiple learning styles and personalities within each class helps to teach respect, love, and empathy to every person.

Become a HPS Teacher:

Each location strives to go beyond the licensing requirements of Maryland State Department of Education.

In order to be one of our teachers, HPS requires, at minimum, that you:

- Be able to successfully complete all requirements from your local licensing branch (including clean fingerprints)
- Successfully completed a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited institution
- Successfully complete working with HPS as an assistant for approximately 6 months (part time)
- Successfully complete HPS Teacher training (approximately 40 hours)
- Provide 3 substantial references
- Successfully complete a HPS background check
- Provide a recent physical including a clean drug/alcohol test
- Successfully complete Adult/Pediatric First Aid and CPR
- Successfully complete Infant Safety (including SIDS training)
- Successfully complete Maryland Health and Safety training
- Successfully complete Medication Administration/Asthma training

- Successfully complete Breast-Feeding Awareness training

- COVID-19 training

- And so much more...

Becoming a HPS Assistant:

Most of our teachers develop out of being a long-term assistant. These long-term assistants work part time for periods as long as 3 years. In order to become one of our assistants, HPS requires that you:

- Are currently attending college or have a college degree

- Need to work 8-15 hours per week

- Have your own transportation

- Speak English clearly

- Have enthusiasm to learn and teach

- Have a clean fingerprint

- Successfully pass a background check

- Provide 3 references

- Provide a recent physical including clean drug/alcohol test

- Attend and successfully complete Adult/Pediatric First Aid and CPR

- Successfully complete Keeping Infant Safe training

- Successfully complete Maryland Health and Safety training

- Successfully complete Medication Administration/Asthma training

- Successfully complete Breast-Feeding Awareness training

- Successfully complete approximately 20 hours of individual HPS training

- COVID-19 training

- ETC..
